Paul Wolfowitz involved in World Bank scandal

Yet another Bush hawk meets with questionable business tactics. Paul Wolfowitz who was an architect of the Bush Doctrine and is a member of the PNAC Group, is involved in scandal as the president of the World Bank.

Complaints of his abusing the position of president have come out regarding his relationship with an employee of the bank, a love interest, and helping her with several pay raises and a promotion. Bank regulations forbids spouses or partners from working in the same area. Wolfiwitz who seperated from his wife of 30 yrs in 2001, had asked originally if Ms. Riza, his girlfriend could keep her job working with him as long as he wasn't involved with specific decisions involving salary. The request angered colleagues.

Ms Riza was eventually given a job at the state department under Liz Cheney, the daughter of the vice president (another hand out job for politician's friends and family).

She was also moved up to a managerial pay grade in compensation for the disruption to her career. The staff association claims that the pay rise was more than double the amount allowed under employee guidelines.
