New Edwards Anti-War Campaign - Keeps Mum About Endorsement

John Edwards joined anti-war groups today to launch the Americans Against Escalation in Iraq campaign. He held a conference call to tell reporters about the new coalition he created together with Elizabeth and some groups but refused to answer questions about who he plans to endorse in the Democratic race.

He made a statement, "People don't understand why we're spending $500 billion and counting in Iraq at the same time we've got 40 plus million Americans who don't have health care coverage". A statement from the organizers, "As economic concerns weigh heavily on the minds of Americans, opposition to President Bush's reckless war in Iraq continues to grow. The massive cost of the war in Iraq – hurtling toward one trillion dollars – has increased demand for a strategy to bring U.S. troops home. The Iraq/Recession Campaign will highlight the majority of Americans who want to see leadership on investing in critical priorities at home and establishing real security throughout the world."

Many of the groups involved in this brand new campaign are also supporters of the Obama campaign. more
